3 Miles
Wake up in our little railway carriage on the beach. Enjoy breakfast and pack everything up before setting the house alarm and leaving.
As it’s such a lovely sunny day we decide to carry on the walk around the coast. It’s over ten miles to drive round Pagham Harbour to Selsey. Park up at Church Norton and laugh to ourselves at a lady and gentleman both arriving at the same time in separate cars, imagining that they are having a secret rendezvous.
Wander round a little bit of the harbour. It is rather muddy. We childishly throw stones into the mud, laughing at the squelch and splatter as they land and slowly sink down. Arriving at the beach we double back to the spit opposite where we left off our walk yesterday.
The stony beach is pretty much deserted. We follow the spit by the water’s edge and into the little town of Selsey. There are lots of little houses along the way – many of which look like they are converted railway carriages.
A solid walkway is very welcome after walking miles on a stony beach over the last few days. We decide to head to the Selsey lifeboat station which sticks out on a pier into the sea – again as calm as a mill pond! It appears to be decommissioned whilst they are building a super new lifeboat station on the mainland.
