Wake pretty early to see the sun having just risen over the English Channel- wow! This has to be the best place to stay..
Enjoy rye bread, avocado, prosciutto and a poached egg with fresh orange juice for breakfast before driving back to Butlins car park to start the next leg of the journey round Britain.
It’s lovely walking along the promenade in the sunshine; there is a diddy little pier which we head down.. sadly for Nigel the gaps between the wooden planks are just a little wide and he has to take it slowly in case he falls down one!!! lol in his dreams he’s that slim. The photo he takes of the three of us (and for some reason the other gentleman on the pier) all laughing says it all about how caring we are about his vertigo tendencies!
We carry on, admiring a relic of a stunning looking hotel for sale – move onto the pebbly beach as the prom runs out. There are some lovely properties to look at, especially the rather grand new build we recently saw on Homes by the Sea. Stop for a while to enjoy a snack of apples and cashew nuts, there is a really high proportion of shells on these beaches which Jen says she remembers from childhood visits to this area.
Before we know it we arrive at “Moonshine” and sit outside in the sunshine enjoying the view and contemplating lunch. After deliberating walking to the pub the other side of the harbour and discussing routes with the neighbour we decide to purchase bread and cheese from the local supermarket!
We have a lovely lunch at the table before heading out to walk to the end of the beach. As we start the walk we see a seal and follow him along the coastline. It’s as if he is teasing us to follow him down the beach as he keeps diving down and popping up way further down the beach.
As we reach the harbour the sun is low in the sky, the sea is as calm as a lake and the reflections are just stunning.. Wander round the harbour past a caravan park and do a loop back past the church to “Moonshine”.
